Fresh coconut is easily perishable in warm or hot climate. If you stay in a country like India, it is better to consume the coconut chutney soon. Coconut chutney is a very easy and common side dish made in south Indian household.
This coconut chutney is simple and makes use of ingredients which are easily available in your kitchen. This is my quick chutney recipe that goes extremely well with idli, dosa, uttapam, masala paniyaram and medu vada. Let’s go through the ingredients, we just need chilli powder, garlic, onion, raw mango etc. It is utterly simple and though fresh coconut makes this out of this world good.
Coconut chutney is mine and my mom-in-law's favourite accompaniment to go with south Indian snacks like dosas and idlis. Both of us are fond of coconut chutney and sambar served with idli, dosa and medu vada.
I think the recipe is so simple and easy that can be done in a jiffy, there are lot and lot of variations that can be done with the basic recipe. Follow this recipe and discover how good the chutney tastes, and yes, don't blame us if you get addicted to it.



  1. Take a grinding mixer jar and put grated coconut, chilly powder,garlic, salt small onion and raw mango pieces.
  2. Pulse it for 3 or 4 spin.
  3. Take out from the jar and serve it it with rice or chappathi.
