Dosa (rice pancake) from South India is a staple food in its home region .In the rest of the country too, Dosa’s are hugely popular. It is white in color and very thin. It is mainly eaten as the breakfast and even as the dinner too.
Let it me talk about the simple ingredients, we need raw rice and grated coconut. Dosa is soul food for me. We even had homemade dosa batter in the fridge, ready to whip up fresh Dosa’s on demand for the unexpected guests whom we always insist stay for dinner.
It is an amazing delicious dish and so delicious too. You must try it. You will surely enjoy!
Soak the rice in a vessel for at least 3 hours.
Clean the rice with water.
Grind it in a grinder or a mixer jar by adding water. water level should be above the rice in the jar.
Put cooked rice or grated coconut when the rice is almost grinded and grind it again.
Pour it in a vessel and add salt.
Heat a dosa stone or non stick fry pan in gas stove and spread a little oil over it.
Pour a big spoon or scoop of rice flour mixture over the dosa stone and rotate the spoon over the mixture such that it will spread over the dosa stone.
Close the dosa with a lid for steaming.
Remove the lid after a minute and spread oil over the dosa and take it with a stirrer or chattukam.
